この地はレゲエの発祥地で、街にはレゲエサウンドが至るところで流れています。
おすすめの観光地は「レゲエの神様」といわれたボブ・マリー博物館（Bob Marley Museum）、
レコーディングスタジオのタフ・コング（Tuff Gong Studio）などが見どころです。
レゲエは、ジャマイカの民謡「スカ」（ska）がリズム＆ブルースの影響を受け成立した音楽です。4拍子のパターンに裏打ちのアクセントがあり、独特のゆったりとしたタメが特徴です。
